Privacy Policy
Lanternwise, published by Kixlogic, LLC · Last updated 30 August 2026
The short version: this game keeps the least it can. There is no advertising, no analytics, no tracking, and nothing is sold or shared with anyone.
What is stored
- A player record. When you first open the game the server creates an anonymous player so your hunt can be saved. It holds no personal details.
- A name and passphrase, only if you choose to save your progress. The name is whatever you pick. The passphrase is never stored — only a PBKDF2 hash of it, with a per-account salt, which cannot be turned back into your passphrase.
- Your results. For each day you finish: the date, your score, whether the fragment was recovered or burned, and which map piece you earned.
- One cookie. A session identifier so the game knows it is still you. It is strictly necessary for the game to function and is used for nothing else — no advertising or measurement cookies are set.
What is never collected
- No email address. The game never asks for one, which also means we can never email you and a lost passphrase cannot be recovered.
- No real name, phone number, contacts, photos or files.
- No location. Places you guess are typed by you and are not your location.
- No advertising identifiers, and no third-party analytics or ad SDKs.
Who it is shared with
Nobody. Your data is not sold, rented or shared. It is stored on Cloudflare infrastructure, which processes it solely to run the game on our behalf.
Keeping it, and deleting it
Results are kept while your account exists, so your streak and season map survive a new device. Write to hello@kixlogic.com from a message that names your player name and we will delete the account and every result attached to it. If you never claimed a name, clearing the site data in your browser discards the anonymous player, which then expires.
Children
The game is a word-and-cipher puzzle intended for a general audience. It is not directed at children, and it does not knowingly collect information from them — there is no profile, no messaging, and no way for players to contact one another.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it.
